Direct Metaphors

Direct metaphors make use of 'is' to make a comparison of two things. Some of the examples of direct metaphors are:

-The boy is a honking car.

-James is a stallion dashing across fields with all grace and speed.

-The toddler is a butterfly progressing towards maturity.

Direct metaphors are used to turn a reader's attention to one single problem and address that issue. Unlike indirect metaphor, a direct metaphor, clearly points out the subject to the reader.
